Parrots Living Outside - Bird Supplies

Are there any types of parrots or cockteils of some sort that can live outside in the winter?

i live in Michigan and have always wanted to build an outdoor aviary to put some birds in but figured there was no point since theres more cold winters here the warm summer and the birds would have to be indoors and stuff but ive herd from a friend that there are some types of birds that could do really well in cold Michigan winter conditions as long as they have there food and water does anyone recommend an types of birds i could put in my aviary ? thanks

Quaker parrots or Patagonian Conures deal with cold fairly well, but couldn't handle a Michigan winter. The only parrot that could would be a kea (a New Zealand alpine parrot), but you're unlikely to be able to get one.

Hands-on with Parrot's flying ARDrone for the iPhone

Remember the new Wi-Fi-controlled hovercraft for the iPhone and iPod Touch that I told you about earlier this week? Well, I've just seen it in person, and yes, the A.R.Drone swoops, turns, and hovers just as advertised. Too bad about its puny battery life.

I got a quick demo of the A.R.Drone in a plastic tent just outside the Las Vegas Convention Center, and I have to say ... this is a pretty cool little toy. (Still no word on when it's coming out or how much it'll cost, unfortunately.)

Again, here's how it works: Armed with a quartet of propellers and a curvy, protective foam bumper in case the thing accidentally lurches into you (the bumper comes off when used outdoors to better deal with the wind), the A.R.Drone can hover, turn, swoop up or sink to the ground, all at the command of your iPhone or iPod Touch.

A camera mounted on the front of the drone transmits live video to your iPhone, while a second, bottom-mounted camera tracks the position of the flying accessory relative to ground, similar to how an optical mouse tracks the position of the cursor; in case of a sudden gust of wind, the A.R.Drone can quickly right itself and return to its original position.

Cheap'n'Easy Lowcarb Living: The "Easy" Part of Low Carb Eating ...

Supper was tilapia (no coating) fried fast in olive oil/butter so the outside was browned and lots of crispy bits, but the inside was flaky, tender, and moist. On the side was a package of shiritaki noodles heated in bacon fat and seasoned with sea salt, garlic and onion powder, thyme, and paprika (lots!), then mixed with a half-cup of peas (I wanted spinach but couldn't find it in the packed freezer...there were a few frozen peas left in the bottom of a bag in there though, so I just used those) and about a cup of full-fat sour cream...have I mentioned that I LOVE sour cream? It was the color of a lovely salmon from all the paprika but totally delicious! This isn't necessarily a place to learn everything you need to know about eating low carb, its health benefits, or how to do it - there are plenty of other places for that. But since I've been living CnE lowcarb for over 5 years (April 3, 2004), I just want to share some of my recipes and experiences, as well as the occasional link or opinion. Welcome! :)
