Which of these two types of food would best for sun conures (4-5 months)? I saw them both at the pet store today. They look fairly similar, only that one is round, tan, natural looking pellets (more vegetable flavored), and the other is colored, fruit shaped pellets (fruit flavored).

Either is fine. Just add fresh fruits and veggies to keep it interesting and round out the diet. Maybe a handful of seeds as a treat. I like the Zupreem Avian Entrees (my birds all seem to prefer the Garden Goodness flavor). It doesn't have all the artificial coloring, but has real dried apple pieces, peas, and peppers.

What Should You Feed Your Parrot: Bird Seed, Parrot Pellets or ...
There are three major types of parrot and pet bird foods: seed, pellet and fresh foods. So how do you know which is best for your bird to eat? The truth is, a parrot needs to have access to all of these foods in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. There are many parrots and pet birds out there who eat only a seed diet, just pellets or a fully fresh foods diet. Yes, these birds are alive and seemingly happy, but just like a child, they need to be given a variety of foods to fully balance their diet.
Most avian veterinarians will suggest that a pet bird or parrot be fed a mainly pellet diet, usually recommending a Harrison's brand pellet. This is because the pelleted parrot food is formulated to provide a pet bird with most every vitamin and mineral that they would consume in the wild. Harrison's pellet is usually recommended by name because it is a fully organic, dye free food that was created specifically for the pet bird market by avian veterinarians.
The problem that many parrot and pet bird owners run in to with Harrison's pellet is that it is both expensive and sometimes hard to find. Harrison's pellet must be purchased through a veterinarian, even by stores, which is why almost no chain pet store carries Harrison's. Harrison's also expires after about four weeks.
A cheaper alternative is Zupreem Naturals pellet. This is another dye free and mostly organic pellet. The size and shape of the pellets are also similar to that of Harrison's, so making the switch from one to the other usually goes unnoticed by parrots and pet birds. Unlike Harrison's, Zupreem Naturals pellet is available at most commercial pet stores, and even in some grocery store pet sections.
Parrot and Bird Seed Mix Food
It is commonly accepted that seeds are the junk food of the parrot and pet bird world. However, there are many owners out there who feed their bird a strictly seed diet. These birds are usually relatively happy and healthy, but they do run a much higher risk of obesity and vitamin deficiency.
FINALLY I found a somewhat-local pet store that sells Totally Organics parrot food. They charge an arm & a leg for it though. That bag cost me $23 (lol Yes I bought it for that). Perhaps I'll start ordering it myself again.
I'm always trying to switch up what I feed my flock. I'd love to see Totally Organics pellets in there, but with the cost of shipping for the 5 pound bucket, it just isn't cost effective :( I have tried to get the specialty pet shops to order it but none of their brokers get it.
I am getting a touch low on bird food, but here is just some of it. I am always grabbing a bit of this and a touch of that from the stores. I will only get products that I KNOW are quality, and best for my parrots. I have companies that I order specialty stuff from every few months. Not...
