Firefighter injured at site of Boonton Twp. blaze
Police Chief John Speirs said the firefighter--whose identity was not immediately available--was injured when he slipped in the icy road and taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Denville for treatment. The Boonton Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene assisting township firefighters.No other injuries were reported, and the homeowners of the two-story condo--which is currently under construction-- are out of the country, Speirs said.
Speirs said the family had two cats in the house, and one feline perished. The other cat was rescued by firefighters and retrieved by the township's animal control officer until the owners return.
Police and firefighters responded to the home at 7:44 p.m. after a neighbor taking out the trash heard the smoke alarm, walked closer to the condo and noticed ''an orange glow'' on the second floor, Speirs said.
The blaze, which began in the second floor living room, was extinguished within 10 to 15 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious, Speirs said.

Place the scratching post next to the furniture and rub some catnip on it. Arouse his curiosity by scratching on the sisal with your fingernails. Then get him to reach to the top by dangling a toy. Once your cat digs in, he’ll start to see how wonderful this new scratching surface is.
