My Cat's New Year's Resolutions
Lexie Lee is afraid of strangers. Anyone heard approaching the front door sends her flying up five steps to the master suite. However, she is becoming tolerant of the mail carrier. She watches him with great intensity from her picture window perch. One of my friends who really wanted to meet Lexie Lee recently only managed to touch the tip of her tail as she flew by.So resolution one is to be friendly to service people and Linda's friends. As Lieber suggests, "I won't turn my nose up at newcomers right away. Instead, I'll give them a chance to scratch my ears before disappearing under the bed." Well, it's taken a year to warm up to the mail carrier. Let's see what another year can do for the pool service company.
Now Lexie Lee is almost perfect, but there is one other little thing that I'd like to see her work on! Oh, how she loves countertops. For some unexplained reason, she thinks it is fun to drink water out of glasses on the countertop. Now I admit it is great exercise for her to leap up and down several times a day!

Works on most windows -- This window perches does attach to the wall. There are 2 clips at the back of the perch that go into the track of the window, and a sliding wood/carpeted support underneath the moves toward the wall to lock the perch in place thru opposing pressure.

I've had quite a few window perches for cats; some I've had to return as too flimsy, badly designed, etc. Some come without instructions. Some fall off when the cat jumps on, or (worse yet) when they're snoozing 3' off the ground. One popular, but badly designed one, uses velcro. Skip all those; this is the best I've seen by far. The competing products have flimsy flexible plastic "legs" that bend alarmingly and/or deposit the cat on the floor. On this product the "legs" are angle-cut 2x4s nicely covered in carpet (they even cut a neat flap for the screw). These babies can take far, far more load than even a large cat jumping on it. The quality of materials, the sensible, solid design (it is way overbuilt and will NOT fall off or wear out), the clear instructions, and the size of this (I actually got the "extra large"; at 36 x 12.5" it is the only cat toy we have that is bigger than our Maine Coon needs; I think two could fit on the extra large). I was a little hesitant because of the cost, but I can't recommend it highly enough (although Amazon's price is not the best when I last checked, although that's certainly the most convenient way to get it). Your time is money; don't be penny wise and pound foolish getting a cheaper one. I think I'll get another for the other room, in fact. The speckled sand one even fits our "std apartment beige carpet...
