FAMILY FOOD: Coq Au Vin »
When I was growing up, French food was not for comfort. It was fancy, as in, scary waiters and morsels of brains and other ground-up innards, and wines that you had to be French to like.Luckily, now we know French people like comfort too, so we can drink their spicy wines and be comforted by their soulful, frugal, delicious classic dishes… like Coq au Vin, for example. This is a fancy way of saying chicken and wine stew. It’s also one of the great comfort foods of the world. And there’s never a better time for comfort than during a cold snap in the first dark weeks of the year.
One of the great things about Coq au Vin, like all stews, is that gets better the day after you make it. You means you can make it, say, on Sunday morning and leave it, in its pot, in the fridge until Monday. Just heat and serve. Which is a process I find highly comforting.
I also like it because there’s usually a way to put something in that your kid will like. My kids will eat chicken and bread. So, great. Done. You can serve it with noodles, or broccoli on the side, or let them dip the bread into the sauce.

My 7 year-old cat weighs 16.4lbs. He is on a diet of Urinary-Tract formula only, he had to have an operation because of kidney stones. He has to eat urinary-tract formula so he does not get kidney infections. He is also a strictly inside cat. I have tried hiding the treats from my parents (they feed him way to many), but I think he has just started eating more food to compensate for this. Any ideas on how to make him loose weight.

Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don’t use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. My vet suggested to me that I feed my cat more wet food instead of dry food to get my 20 lb cat to loose weight. We try to limit the cat on the dry food and feed her half a can of wet in the morning and the other half in the evening. There are cat foods that can be prescribed to your cat to loose weight (and you can buy it at a store like Petsmart) but you would need to go to the vet for that. There are also indoor formulas and such that you can try. And some cats are just FAT!
Cut his food levels down, to a bowl or to what your vet suggests. Tell your parents that the treats and overeating is dangerous for him, and it could severely damage the operations results. String, toys, or socks with catnip are wonderful toys, and cats can spend hours batting or biting a sock with catnip within it. If you need some more ideas, the vet would be a good person to call.
