Rope Cat Scratcher - Cat Supplies

How to build your own cat tree?

Cat trees are kind of spendy, but it would be nice to have one. One of my cats like the cat scratcher that is like a rope, and my other cat likes carpet. Where could I get some supplies for some wood projects and perhaps get small carpet samples?

For carpet, check with your local store that sells carpet and check the dumpster out back for scraps. Or ask for some scraps.

The rope you can buy at any hardware store.

Most of those cat trees are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is inexpensive and you can get that at any Home Depot etc. Get 3/4" and glue and screw it together and cover with carpet scraps.

Good luck.

Cat rescued from tall Northshore tree

NEAR SLIDELL, La. – A cat that had been trapped high in a thin pine tree about 75 feet above the ground for about a week was rescued early Tuesday morning by a professional climber.

Following the rescue, the cat was taken to Lakeshore Veterinary Hospital where it was treated for dehydration, but otherwise looked to be in good condition.

Ron Hastings, a veteran climber, was contacted by the Humane Society of Louisiana about attempting to free the cat following a report on WWL-TV Monday night.

Hastings began his ascent around 8 a.m. and as he approached the cat, it scampered to the highest point in the tree and onto a flimsy branch.

Hastings said the cat was obviously scared and was meowing a lot and making noises he said he’d never heard from a cat before. As he tried to go higher into the tree, Hastings realized the branches at the top of the tree wouldn’t support his weight.

At that point a “catch pole” which is a long device with a circular end that is often used to capture wild dogs, was sent up to him by rope.

Manila Cat Scratching Post Is Sisal And Manila Rope Nearly The ...

Hello, I'm building a structure of the large cat scratching post, a house, holes, and 3 high perches incorporated in the development. I have all the poles of 9 / bolts of the structure and scrapers bought 100 feet of sisal rope. To say that an underestimation of the amount of rope we need is a huge understatement. 100 meters I could only make 1 post in full and 3 / 4 'from the other wrapped with sisal, I (2 "x 4" nails use).
Would likely lead to one of Google for a cheap source of sisal, but because the absence of 600 feet (to be safe and their use in another project) costs about $ 65 to $ 75 It cost me $ 10.99 for each 100 meters in Kent.

Well come down to my main question: I noticed that when shopping online, sisal rope to save me money, but a string that looks almost identical to that of sisal is very cheap. The alternative is called the chord of Manila. I personally have never seen before, and so do not know if it really is almost identical with sisal. Can anyone tell me whether there is a valid sub-categories. the use of sisal?
