The Feline Tree House - Cat Supplies

I want to build a cat tree house/condominium?

I want to build my cat, brenda, a luxurious feline resort. something that she can play and relax on. something to make her forget about all her worries. what would be the best things to make her resort out of? i.e. should i put tunnels, toys, etc. what would make her happiest?

All of the above! Start with a STURDY base (wood and pvc pipe work great) and go from there. Make sure it's big enough that it won't tip when she's jumping on and off it.

I suggest using concrete forms for the shelves for her to sleep on. You can find them at places like Lowe's and Home Depot and they're used to make foundations in construction work. It's really sturdy cardboard that is pretty easy to cut using an exacto-knife. Once they're cut, the "shelves" will be curved so she won't fall off when she's snoozing on the tower. Or you can leave them whole to make tunnels for her. Hot glue some carpet over it to make it comfy (and pretty for the human eyes) and your kitty should love it. You can wrap the supports with sisal rope or carpet for her to scratch and hang toys from the under side of the shelves for her to play around with. Just think like a cat and go nuts!

Cat in tree, firefighters stumped

A cat that had been up in a tree since Friday morning in Waverley, N.S., just outside Halifax, has finally decided to come down.

Late Monday afternoon, the year-old black feline named Shady jumped to the snow below the tree and ran off into the bushes, leaving owner Tina Ashley to hunt for her pet in nearby woods.

Shady rejected three rescue attempts by firefighters and only climbed higher — about 18 metres up as of Sunday, according to Ashley.

Ashley tried tempting Shady to come down by putting food partway up the 20-metre-high tree in her neighbour's backyard and even attempted to remove the cat with a pole. But nothing worked and Shady spent most of his time yowling from on high.

"We've tried whatever we know to get him down, and the fire department has tried and it's just nothing that we've tried is working … but I just don't think he's going to make it through another night," she said.

The temperature dropped to about –8 C in parts of mainland Nova Scotia Saturday night.

Feline Tree House

We cat lovers want to give our cats the best of everything and Hammacher Schlemmer knows this and that is why they keep creating all kinds of awesome items for our felines. The Feline Tree House is among these wonderful items that make our cat’s purrrr. This cool house is made from dragonwood trees harvested from sustainable forests in Florida and Georgia. The tree is left in its natural state meaning bark, twisted branches and all are intact. The platforms are custom made to fit in the tree. The house on the bottom is fit for any finicky feline with cedar shutters, shaker shingles, and wall-to-wall frieze carpeting.
