How do doctors diagnose a urinary tract infection?

I've researched that it's a painful burning sensation. But for urinary tract infections, is the burning only when you pee, or does the burning occur constantly?

Also, at the doctors, how do they check for urinary tract infections? Do they actually check the vagina?

It is a burning feeling while you are urinating, and you feel like you need to go constantly. You simply go to the lab at your doctors office, give them a urine sample,{pee in a cup} and the technician will check it for bacteria. Depending on the type of bacteria, your doctor will prescribe an antibiotic for you. When I get one, which is often, I don't even see my doctor, he just calls in my prescription. Don't be scared and good luck.

World-Renowned Yogi Baron Baptiste Unveils New Program to Help People with ...

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan 11, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Baron Baptiste, bestselling author and founder of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, and Dr. Elliot Frohman, one of the world's leading authorities on multiple sclerosis (MS), have teamed up to develop My MS Yoga, a new program created especially for people with multiple sclerosis. My MS Yoga is an at-home exercise program that can be tailored to meet MS patients' needs depending on how they are feeling on any given day.

"We designed My MS Yoga to make the many benefits of yoga available to most people with multiple sclerosis through a free DVD," said Baron Baptiste. "A key part of the My MS Yoga program is the emphasis on accessibility with modifications. It encourages people with multiple sclerosis to begin at a comfortable level and advance at their own pace, allowing them to modify the poses based on how they feel."

My MS Yoga is designed for people with multiple sclerosis of varying levels of ability, offering modified yoga poses to help decrease muscle weakness and stiffness; reduce spasticity and other common multiple sclerosis symptoms, and enhance strength, balance, flexibility and coordination. The goal of the program is to help people with multiple sclerosis stay physically active so they can do simple things most people take for granted, such as walking, grocery shopping or helping their child get ready for school.

Your Cats Urinary Tract Infection May Be More Common Than You Think

Once again, one of my cats and I are off to the vet. It seems a spider had delivered a nasty bite to his nose. After arriving I couldn’t help but notice the number of felines in the hospital area of the clinic, and was curious as to why so many cats were in such bad shape. It was easy to satisfy my curiosity because each cage was clearly marked. The most common description read “Cats Urinary Tract Infection”. I must admit I was expecting to see something else, like FIP or some other type of airborne disease, rather than cats urinary tract infection, which is of course bacterial.

When it came time for my appointment I asked the vet as to why so many cages in the pet hospital were labeled cats urinary tract infection. His reply was shocking! He stated that often times over half of the cats with serious concerns are those with cat urinary tract infections. He went on to say that his best guess as to why it is so common is a combination of weak immune systems and poor litter box hygiene.

My experience above was an eye opener for me, and it should be for you as well. Nevertheless, if you are reading this article chances are your cats urinary tract infection either has become chronic or you suspect your pet may have this condition. So, since this is the case let’s explore cat urinary tract infections in more detail and then look for some home treatment options.

Almost always cat urinary tract infections (UTI) are caused by bacterial infection, with the most likely suspect being E.coli. While the infecting bacteria can gain access orally, through old food or contaminated  bacteria filled water, the most common entry point is the urethra. This likely explains why so many more female felines are infected. There can also be a number of contributing factors that encourage the condition including partial or total blockage of the urinary tract by stones, genetic abnormalities, immune deficiency caused by illness, and age.
