Raynham Park greyhounds looking for homes

Mr. Britt still likes to chase rabbits, but not the mechanical ones he used to run behind at Raynham Park.
Four years after concluding a racing career at the dog track, Mr. Britt loves to tear after live rabbits, live squirrels and the stuffed purple toy that his foster owner, Michael McCann, of Randolph, swings around on a string in his backyard.
“He’s a very jumpy, happy guy,” McCann said of the 7-year-old greyhound he’s taken in as a foster dog. “Because he’s so big, he tends to intimidate people.”
Mr. Britt has spent the past six months at McCann’s home, ever since the greyhound’s previous owner had to leave him behind when he returned home to Australia.
The dog has a brindle coat, his soft, short hair forming ribbons and swirls of tans and black. Like most greyhounds, and especially male ones, he has a laid-back temperament. He spends the bulk of his day sleeping, and if he can squeeze in a walk or quick romp in the yard during the few hours he isn’t napping, he’s content.
