Middletown's Santa"The Humane Society of Middletown has its own special Santa this Christmas," reported the shelter's corresponding board secretary, Edie Sherman.
Max Jorzik, 10, of Middletown, has been soliciting pet food donations for the shelter with the help of his parents, Mark and Christine. His collection boxes have been set up for the last month at Price Chopper, Maple Hill Elementary School and Monhagen Middle School. The donations he collects will be delivered to the shelter tomorrow.
Throughout the last two years, Max has held yard sales, bake sales, a lemonade stand and other food drives, calling his effort the "Pet Food Pantry."
"I saw the pets in the paper and figured I could help them," he said. "I get the idea, and then I ask my parents, community to get it done."
Max received a special award at a shelter board meeting last week to honor his efforts.

First, Frontline does not work as well as AdvanTix. Second, the product is known to be toxic (read the new scientific studies). Third, for some reason Merial thinks that Cesar Millan is a good advocate for Merial. What is common to all three of these issues – bad news for your pet. Besides that, the stuff is smelly stinky! If you care enough for your pet to purchase expensive products – look elsewhere!
Don’t be fooled by these bogus reviews. This stuff does not kill fleas. I have tried it twice on my cats and they got no relief either time. None. Advantage is expensive but within an hour I have seen dead fleas on my computer table when one of my cats sits there with me while I’m online. And they’re obviously more comfortable in the days after the treatment. I don’t know if Frontline works on ticks and I have not tried any other products to kill fleas.
Soon after applying the frontline medication my cat freaked out and went outside and has yet to come back indoors. He has been an indoor cat for over 8 years (he’s 11 now) He seems fine but the fact that he refuses to come indoors concerns me. I also found a tick!!!!! I called Merial and they informed me to NOT purchase medication on line even from “safe” brokers ie. Amazon.com My advice is to purchase frontline or any other similar product from your local vet. I feel almost blessed thinking what could have happened to my beloved Pekoe.
