How big will a Boxer and Catahoula Leopard Dog mix get and does it shed?

I am thinking of getting this puppy i found online, but i want to know how big it will get and if it will shed a lot. I am hoping that the dog will get to be less than 25 or 30 pounds and that it will shed only a little. Oh, and it's a girl if that helps!! Thanks everyone!

Those are both good size breeds and the possibility of a pup being up to 30 pounds is probably very low.

I am sure that by 7 months old it will already exceed your weight limit

As for shedding both breeds shed. I myself have boxers and can assure you that they do shed and a few times a year shed quite a bit. It may be short fur but it does shed. The Catahoula Leopard also sheds and am sure more than just a little.

All dogs shed to some extent and there is nothing that can be done about it except to accept and and just vacuum and dust more often

With the above being said and your listed requirements, I do not think that this pup would probably fit your lifestyle and what yo are looking for.

Better to make an educated decision than one due to how cute the pup looks. Plus I never recommend buying a pup/ dog on the internet as you have no way of visiting the breeder to see the conditions that the pups have been kept as well as seeing the Dam and Sire for size and temperament and lets not forget that you wil want to know if health testing was done on the parents and had passed them all prior to the breeder deciding to breed them.

THE first meeting of the 2010 Formula K Karting Club is not one Matthew Dicinoski and his Smart City Racing team will remember fondly.

The team was looking forward to some solid racing with Dicinoski and Scott Dagan set to battle it out in the Leopard Heavy division, while Mark “Chooky” Edwards was tipped to continue his climb through the racing ranks.

Club publicity officer Kevin Doherty said that was not the way things went, with Dicinoski failing to make a start owing to recurring mechanical problems.

Edwards did get some time on the Fitzroy Park Raceway track, but for the most competitive races on the card his only contribution was as a spectator.

“Chooky lost a wheel in the pre-final when the studs broke off,” Doherty reported.

“He did a fair bit of damage.

“He watched the final from the grandstand next to me.”

It was not all doom and gloom for the Smart City Racing team or, for that matter, the Dicinoski family.

Catahoula Leopard Dog

Dog Description

Often called the most versatile of all working dog breeds, the Catahoula Leopard dog is certainly an active canine. From being able to herd cattle and hunt many species of game – deer, bear, boar, raccoon, and squirrel – to being an excellent candidate for Search and Rescue as well as drug detection, needless to say, the Catahoula Leopard dog is a protective breed that is intelligent and adaptable to nearly every situation.

Also known as a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog, this dog breed likes to be as active as possible and requires a fair amount of mental stimulation to keep occupied. Often growing to 20 to 26 inches long and 45 to 95 pounds, this moderate breed stays in shape by being put to work in the fields or in various law enforcement situations.

The Louisiana Catahoula can be a number of different colors, so it can be difficult to identify them just from their coats. Ranging in color from red, blue, yellow, and even tan or white colors, this breed’s short coat is easy to maintain and suited perfectly for their active lifestyle.

History

There is some speculation that the Catahoula Leopard dog is a descendant of the greyhounds and mastiffs that were brought into Louisiana by Hernando de Soto in the sixteenth century. These original dogs were also known as war dogs and are thought to have interbred with the local red wolves.

In the next century, the French began to arrive in Louisiana as well, bringing the Beauceron dog breed, which then mixed with the interbred dogs that were now in the area, producing the breed as it is seen today.

Governor Edwin Edwards made the Catahoula Leopard dog the official state dog of Louisiana in 1979.

The name “Catahoula” actually comes from the Indian word meaning, ‘clear water.’

Temperament

As with most smart dog breeds, the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard needs to have a fair amount of stimulation in order to stay energized and happy. These dogs are highly intelligent and quick to assess situations, making them perfect helpers in law enforcement. But at the same time, this energy they have can also match perfectly with young children. The Catahoula is gentle and loving with younger children, so unlike other sporting dogs, this breed can be a good addition to a home setting.
