Product Review: Therapet Prong Training Collar
&Nbsp;ad.By this point I'd been in dogs in 4-H for a couple of years with my Redbone cross (seen in user picture) and she decided she wanted to be in it too. However, her new dog happened to be a Chow-Chow (about three years old) with the characteristic long, very thick hair those dogs tend to have and she didn't pay any attention whatsoever to the traditional chain choke collar.
Our leader suggested she get a pinch collar. A pinch collar is a nasty-looking device consisting of numerous metal sections meant to easily form to the dog's neck and has wire prongs sticking out of the inside of the collar. This dog was already skittish and the collar looked like it might be able to hurt her, but our leader was an AKC trainer for many years and our faith in her experience finally won out.
We purchased the Therapet collar which has plastic caps on the prongs, not all pinch collars have these, at the time it cost about $10 but I have since seen the same item for $15-$20.
