How many Santas does it take to raise over £4000?
It was organised by Lairg and District Community Initiative, spearheaded by their project officer Graeme Mackay, and raised over £4000 for four charities - the British Heart Foundation, the Highland Hospice, Crossroads Care East Sutherland and the Initiative itself.
There were 52 entries the event, which could be walked or run in Santa suits, and participants came from as far afield as Inverness as well as many East Sutherland villages, including Loth, Brora, Golpsie and Embo as well as a fair number from Rogart and Bonar Bridge.
Ages ranged from five to the 75 and there was even a baby, carried round the four-mile course in a furry suit and Santa hat. There were also several dogs, one with decorated collar and another with a special doggie jacket trimmed with red fur and bells.
It was the first time the Santa Run had been staged in Lairg and it is thought to have been the only one in Sutherland.
Participants gathered at the community centre in Lairg to register and collect their Santa suit with race number. Then there were a few warm-up exercises under the instruction of Cynthia Duncan from Brora. Starting the race was retired Lairg GP Dr Alex Dickson.
