"My father started this business in 1972, which will soon be 38 years," Harris said. "His name was Mabry Harris. We moved here in 1972, and he bought this business, and this is what has provided me and my family a living."
Harris took over the business from his father in 1988. It has a staff of 17 employees.

Jimmy Harris, who is also mayor of Brevard, and his business, Harris Ace Hardware, have been named the Retailer of the Year award winner for 2009 by the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners and the Economic Development Advisory Board. The annual award is given to an outstanding Transylvania County business in recognition of its contributions to the community and in appreciation for its accomplishments.
